Join us in congratulating our Franklin High School Esports Fortnite squad for their performance this past weekend at the Esports Ohio state tournament. The Esports Ohio Southwest region hosted area schools at the University of Cincinnati campus for the state tournament in Fortnite. These talented gamers have practiced countless hours, strategized, and honed their skills during their spring season to reach this tournament. Their dedication and teamwork have paid off.
The Fortnite squad consists of Owen Hudson Bateson, Branson Powell, and Ethan Fleming. The trio qualified for the second season in a row and made significant improvements in their overall scores. They placed 25th out of 101 total Fortnite teams in the State of Ohio.
The Franklin High School Esports team is coached by Matt Slone and Amy Hudson Estepp. The team includes 18 students in grades 8-12 playing four different games (Fortnite, Rocket League, Valorant, and Super Smash Bros.) In only its second year, the team has earned regional and state qualifiers, two state All-Star players and 16 of the 18 members of their team members earned the All-Academic award. Any interested students in grades 8-12 for the 23-24 school year that would like to participate in the fall esports season are encouraged to attend a parent meeting on Tuesday, May 16, at 6 pm in the Franklin High School cafeteria.
