Students from Franklin, other Warren County districts, ink agreements during in-demand jobs week

In a ceremony modeled after athletic and college signing events, five Franklin High School seniors signed employment agreements with Greenpoint Metals on May 6 at Lebanon High School. The event, which was part of Ohio's in-demand jobs week, was one of many across the state during May 6-10. Ohio's Lt. Governor Jon Husted and Ohio 7th District senator Steve Wilson attended and offered remarks. Participating Warren County schools included Carlisle, Franklin, Greater Ohio Virtual School, John Lazares Alternative School, Kings, Lebanon, Little Miami, Springboro, Warren County Career Center, Waynesville, and the Warren County Adult Connections Program.

This event was for high school seniors in Ohio who have completed a rigorous career technical program and are entering the workforce in a related field upon high school graduation.

The five Franklin students, who have been working a special shift at Greenpoint Metals for several months, have been offered full-time jobs upon graduation. Greenpoint Metals, 301 Shotwall Dr., Franklin, works exclusively with Franklin High School on this Workforce Development Initiative, a partnership among United Way of Warren County, the Warren County Foundation, local school districts, and participating Warren County companies and organizations.

Warren County Career Center senior Adam Waughtal, whose home district is Franklin, also participated in the event and is taking a position with Johnson Controls (Photo courtesy of Warren County Career Center). FHS seniors who signed with Greenpoint Metals include, from left: Tony Marinelli, Jamie Lawson, Eric Etter, Cody Cox, and Jordan Brown. The second row is Haley Arlinghaus, FHS counselor; Kelli Fromm, FHS principal; and Dr. Mike Sander, Superintendent of Franklin City Schools. #FCSWildcatPride
