Inclement Weather

Parents and Guardians:

It’s that time of year again! The cold weather is upon us and during these freezing temperatures, often times, the district operates on a two-hour delay: Plan A, schedule. The direct language of Plan A is below:

Plan A: Two-Hour Delay for Students / Employees Report. Due to the inclement weather, all Franklin City School buildings will operate on a two-hour delayed schedule. Buses will run two hours later than the regular route time and schools will begin two hours later than usual. Employees, except transportation, are to report at their regular time. Transportation will report on the delay and will work their contracted hours.

During the two-hour delays, all buildings open at their normal time. The delay for colder weather gives student walkers additional time to arrive at school in the freezing temperatures.  It is our hope that, with the additional time, students that normally walk will be able to find a ride to school.  We encourage those students to arrive as soon as they can. They will be welcomed to a warm environment and breakfast is still served at all buildings.

As for students that ride a bus, we encourage you to utilize the MyStop parent application (app). This app. can be downloaded from the App. Store (Apple) or Google Play Store (Android) by searching “VersaTrans My Stop,” by Tyler Technologies. The username is the student ID (lunch code) and the password is the student birthday (MM/DD/YYYY). This allows you to track your bus so that your student will not have to wait out in the cold any longer than necessary. If you need additional information on the MyStop application, please visit our district website at www.franklincityschools.com and select “Bus Information,” from the home page.

In order to receive the most recent updates for school closings, make sure that your school has accurate contact information for your student. You can include multiple forms of contact via phone call, text message, and/or email.

Please be aware the our primary concern during these delays is student safety. While we make every attempt to minimize the disruption to teaching and learning, adverse weather conditions can impact our morning school arrivals. If you have an additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s building principal or the administrative offices at 937-746-1699.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael D. Sander
