FHS Parent and Family Update for 2/28/22

Feb 25, 2022
at 1:45 pm

Good afternoon FHS Parents, Families and Students:
After a couple of choppy weeks, we had a relatively “normal” week at FHS.  Going into next week, we are down to the last two weeks of the 3rd Quarter.   We are still struggling with some students with absences, tardies  and work completion.  Please log-in to Progress Book this weekend and have intentional conversations with  your student(s) about their attendance and academic progress.  Thank you to our students who are working hard both in and out of the classroom to stay on top of their studies-your efforts are noticed and appreciated!

ACT Day at FHS: Tuesday March 1st is ACT Day at FHS.  All families received a letter in the mail early in February reviewing the details of this day.  A link to the letter is included HERE and specifics are included below.  Please note, for grades 9-11 students must have a documentation form on file to be released after testing.  We will not take permission over the phone.  If a student does not have a form on file, they will receive lunch and report to Study Hall after testing.

Grade Requirements for Tuesday, March 1st, 2022

9th

All 9th grade students will be taking the Pre-ACT®  8/9 Test.  Students are to report to school by 7:30am.  Students should bring with them two sharpened pencils and a graphing calculator, if they have one.  Transportation will operate as normal before and after school.  However, if your child can arrange transportation (and fills out the necessary permission slip), they may leave school once the exam administration has concluded (approximately 11:30am).  Please note, this will NOT count as an early-dismissal and students will not lose a potential exam exemption if they choose to leave early on this date.

This test serves as an invaluable opportunity to prepare students for the ACT®  test they will take in their 11th and 12th grade years.  Therefore, please encourage your child to take this test seriously!

12th

12th grade students will not report to school on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022.  Instead, 12th grade students will participate in a minimum of 5 hours of community service OR 5 hours of job shadowing.  Students can complete the required 5 hours of community service or job shadowing on 3/1/22 OR on their own time between 2/22/22 and 3/11/22.  Students will be required to submit documentation of 5 hours of community service OR job shadowing no later than Tuesday March 15th, 2022.  If students do not submit their documentation by March 15th, their absence on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022 will be recorded as an unexcused absence.  If a student earns an unexcused absence for this date, they will forfeit their 2nd Semester Exam Exemptions.

Note: The only day students will be excused from school to complete the required 5 hours of community service OR job shadowing is Tuesday, March 1st, 2022.  If they choose to complete these hours at another time, it must be outside of regular school hours.
