Franklin City Schools to hold community forum to seek input on new school buildings

Franklin City Schools will hold a community-wide forum on Tuesday, Dec. 10 to seek residents' input on the desired configuration of new school buildings. The forum will be held in the Franklin Junior High School cafeteria at 6 p.m. and all interested residents are invited to attend.

The district is looking toward constructing new buildings, as the district's buildings range in age from 50 to nearly 100 years old. The Franklin Board of Education passed a resolution to enter into the ELP (Expedited Local Partnership) with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. The ELP program will allow the district construct new buildings in two phases; the agreement locked in that the state will pay 56% of the cost of Franklin's new buildings.

The most crucial decision is to determine the desired school building mix that residents want, and forum attendees will be asked for input on how they think buildings should be configured.

This forum will be facilitated by Steed Hammond Paul, Inc. the school district's architect.

Persons with questions should call the superintendent's office at (937) 746-1699.
