Hello Hunter Families!

We have all been working hard to get the school ready for your students to come back. I am very excited to have kids in the building once again! I know you are all wondering what the year will look like, so I thought I would take some time to explain what we are planning right now. Please know that all of our plans have been made in conjunction with the Warren County Health Department and have been approved. They have been instrumental in helping us get things organized so that students and staff can return to school safely. As we have all learned during this pandemic, things can change rapidly. We will do our best to communicate changes to you as they arise. I ask that everyone remains flexible and reaches out with questions or concerns. If we all work together, I know we can have a great year!

Open House

Open House for students participating in in-person learning will be held on Monday 8/31. A separate Open House will be held for remote students. We are staggering arrival times to cut down on the total number of people in each classroom to allow for social distancing. Students with last names A - K should come between 5:00 and 6:00 PM. Students with last names L - Z should come between 6:00 and 7:00 PM. If you have students with different last names in the same family, please choose the time that works best for all.

When you arrive, please enter through the front doors on either side of the building and exit through the back doors. All visitors, students and parents, must wear a mask in the building. Please also practice social distancing of at least 6 feet while in the building. To help with this, we are asking that all siblings who do not attend Hunter currently stay at home. If possible, it is recommended that only one parent attend with your child. Please refrain from visiting prior years teachers, as they will need to meet their new students during this time.

Updated district-wide supply lists can be found on our district website here. If you have them, you may bring your child’s school supplies to their homeroom. They can be left on their desk so they do not have to bring them on the bus on the first day of school.

Class lists will be available at Open House in the main lobby and by each front door.


We are not allowing any visitors to the building to start the year, so this includes the first day of school. Students need to either arrive on the bus or through the car rider line. Parents will not be allowed to accompany them into the school.

Busses will still drop off at the front entrance with students entering through the side door where their classroom is located. Students wanting breakfast will go through the front doors and directly into the cafeteria. They will take breakfast back to their classroom to eat. Busses will stagger their drop off to avoid crowds in the hallways. It is going to be important that student behavior on the bus be excellent to prevent an exposure issue if we were to have a positive case of COVID-19. Students must remain seated in their assigned seats, facing forward, and wearing their masks. Any bus referrals received in the office will be issued a consequence.

Car riders will follow the same procedure as last year. Parents should use the access road and follow the line to the intermediate back door. Doors will open to students at 8:10 AM. Dismissal will begin at 3:15 PM also from the back door. Car riders will be housed in the cafeteria to allow for social distancing, but parents will follow the same procedure. Please put a sign in your car with your child’s name on it to assist the teachers on duty with identifying your car.

Other Safety Measures

Per Governor DeWine’s statewide order regarding schools, all people, students, staff, and visitors, must wear a mask at all times. Teachers will teach students how to appropriately take mask breaks when needed. Students will be traveling in cohorts in grades 4-6 which means they will be with the same group of classmates all day long. They will be rotating classes. Grades 1-3 will be self-contained as they typically are. There will be no shared supplies in the classrooms.

Students will be eating lunch in their classrooms, and specials, except for PE, will be coming to their classrooms. Recess will be shortened and happen more frequently throughout the day. We are limiting the number of classes on the playground and assigning them an area to play in to mitigate exposure between classes. They must wear a mask while playing during recess. There will be designated spots 6 feet apart for students to sit and take a mask break while outside if they choose.

Teachers will have cleaning supplies in their rooms that are safe for school use as well as hand sanitizer. Your child is allowed to bring their own hand sanitizer if you choose to send them with some. The district has a bio-static sprayer which prevents germs from latching onto surfaces for up to 90 days. All busses and buildings will be sprayed on a schedule. The custodians have also been trained in COVID cleaning protocols.

We have an Ill and Well side of the clinic to separate students when they are visiting the clinic.

Water fountains will not be in use, so please send your child with a water bottle daily.


We are requiring each family to take their child’s temperature at home before coming to school. Any student with a fever over 100 ℉ must stay home. Any student who has the following symptoms of COVID-19 should stay home from school and should see their primary care provider to be assessed for COVID-19: cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing. Any student exhibiting two of the following symptoms: fever, chills, rigors, myalgia, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, GI issues (nausea and vomiting or diarrhea) must stay home. Or any student exhibiting any of the symptoms mentioned above and an epidemiological link to a case of COVID-19 must stay home. If your child is waiting on the results of a COVID test, they must stay home. If your child has tested positive, please inform the school nurse. As always, communication with the school nurse in the event of any illness is preferred.

I am sure I will be sending out more information as the year begins. I will be using email as my primary means of communicating, so please make sure we have your correct email address on file.
