Principal's Message

Dear Gerke Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I am honored to be serving the Franklin Community as the Principal of Gerke Elementary.
Gerke is a great place to be! We have a staff of dedicated professionals who are focused on meeting students where they are and helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
I encourage you to be involved in your child's education by becoming active in our PTO, volunteering in classrooms, or helping out at special events throughout the year.
This year Open House / Meet the Teacher will be August 15th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Students first day of school will be:
- August 16th (Grades 1-6)
- August 16th (Kindergarten, Last names beginning with A-M ONLY)
- August 17th (Kindergarten, Last names beginning with N-Z ONLY)
- August 18th (All Kindergarten students)
Student arrival and dismissal will work the same as last year.
Arrival:
Students in grades K-1 along with their older siblings need to be dropped off at the South side of the building. Students in grades 2-6 need to be dropped off using the North parking lot. Students can arrive at 8:10 a.m. and all students will enter through the middle doors and go directly to the gym to receive breakfast or sit with their class.
Dismissal:
All students will be dismissed at 3:15 p.m. K-1 students will exit the building using the South doors along with their older siblings. Students in grades 2-6 will exit the building using the North doors. Please make sure to pull forward if you are one of the first cars in line so others can pull up behind you. You cannot park in the North parking lot during arrival and dismissal times.
On behalf of the staff of Gerke Elementary, we are looking forward to a great school year!
Sincerely,
Joshua Pohl
